The Home::1 tariff is an ideal tariff for home users who want a simple fixed-usage service from AAISP. More details as to what is offered and the pricing can be found on the main website:

Quota
The Home::1 has a quota amount per month which you choose when ordered and can change during the life of the service. There is also a quota bonus of half of the unused quota from the previous month being added to the next. When the quota is reached various things could happen such as the line being blocked, the service set to go slow or for the system to automatically apply a top-up (and charge for it) More details below...

Multiple lines at the same location and on the same login can be bonded for speed & resilience, the quota is shared between them - see below for more details.

How to Change the monthly quota
You can regrade through https://aa.net.uk/broadband-regrade.html
A change in tariff would take effect from the following calendar month.

Topping up before the quota runs out
If the top up Action is set to Slow or Block, then when you have less than 50GB remaining a Top up button will be shown on the Control Page. Clicking this will add 50GB and will invoice for it. From September 6, 2017 top-up on Home::1 and SoHo::1 does not expire. It continues until you have used it all.

The top up is paid for by a separate Direct Debit and lasts to the end of the following month, or until used up.

How to view remaining Quota
It can be viewed from the Control Pages, and also by viewing the front page of the main web aa.net.uk site from your Home::1 line, it will look a little like this:

Quota on Bonded/Multi-line Home::1 Lines
Overview
The Home::1 tariff is usually for a single line, but we do allow multiple lines on a Home::1 tariff which means that traffic can be bonded to increase the throughput (speed) and resilience.

*Multiple lines on Home::1 lines need to be on the same login (e.g. example@a)
*They will all be given a different line number (e.g. example@a.1, example@a.2 etc.).
*Each line needs its own Quota, these can be different amounts. (Previously we had allowed a line to have zero quote, but this has changed)
*Automatic quota balancing will ensure that the total quota is automatically shared as needed

Balancing
Whilst each line has its own quota, whenever a line in the set runs out of quota there is a process called "balancing", which takes the total quota for the bonded set, and splits it equally between the lines in the set.

From a user's perspective, this means that you don't get auto topped-up until you have completely run out of quota across your set of lines. However, there can be confusing states where (e.g.) you have a total of 25GB quota left, shown to you as line 1 having 20GB quota and line 2 having 5GB quota. Don't panic; when the line with 5GB quota runs out of quota completely, balancing will kick in and adjust the situation.

In our example case, if asymmetric speeds and/or per-line IPv6 routing means that you use 10GB on line 1, and 5GB on line 2, you'll hit the point where you have one line with 10GB quota and another line with 0GB quota. Balancing will detect this, and rearrange so that you have 5GB per line. If you then use 5GB on line 1 and 1 GB on line 2, balancing will kick in again, and give you 2GB per line. This will continue until you run out of quota, and then the auto-bill will kick in and will top-up the quota.

If you apply a top-up before you run out of quota, this is only applied to one line. The expectation is that balancing will spread the top-up among your lines as needed.
Availability
Information
KBD is a tool provided by BT, results can vary, but BT require us to run a KBD before reporting a fault.

It can be useful in identifying faults, but often it will say no fault found even when there is.

It can detect if there is a phone line fault and may suggest reporting it to 'OR' (Openreach). In this case, report the fault to the phone line provider.

Examples
Using our CQM graphs can give you a good idea as to what could be causing a line to be slow.

You can take a look at your graph and compare it to the examples below to see if there is a match.

Examples
Below are a few examples of slow lines and their graphs.

Lots of traffic on the line
Here is an example of a CQM Graph with lots of upload traffic,

This line is doing a large backup from just before 6am. The dark red horizontal line shows the traffic, during this time there is lots of packet loss (red) and the light blue at the bottom is showing high latency. So, whilst the backup is happening the line has about 50% packet loss and around 300ms of latency. Using the line for things like web browsing at this time will be slow and sluggish. However, this is not a fault per-se. It is normal for a line to appear slow when it's being filled with traffic.

However, this traffic may be unknown, it may not be a backup, but could be a virus or peer-to-peer traffic, or almost anything!

Dealing with Lots of traffic
#Try to identify what the traffic is: You can do a Traffic Capture
#If it's upload traffic, try unplugging devices on the network until the traffic stops
#Contact Support for further help

Packet loss on the line
Packet loss is shown as dripping red from the top on the graph. Here are some examples:

If you suspect you have packet loss, also see:
*Packet Loss - a page with more (slightly technical) details about packet loss

Dealing with Packetloss
##Plug router in to test socket
##Check phone line for noise, buzzing/hissing
#Run line diagnostic tests
#Contact Support

Congestion
If it seems slow in in the evening then it could be congestion somewhere between you and AAISP, or (rarely) within AAISP. A line with congestion may look something like this:

Dealing with Congestion
#Contact Support

Line dropped and speed changed
This line dropped at 01:50, and came back within a minute or two, however, the speed has dropped (horizontal black line at the top) and also the latency (blue at bottom) has increased. There could be a fault here, but in this case we can clearly see that something has happened. If your line has changed in speed and is shown on the graphs, then diagnostics may find a fault, and the Support Team can help.

Internet Relay Chat (irc) is a simple on-line live chat system. It allows text messages to be posted and read in channels. There is a chat channel for A&A customers which can be very useful for getting advice and contacting support staff in or out of normal hours.

Server Details
Server: irc.z.je
Channel: #A&A

Web-based client:
https://webirc.aa.net.uk

Getting Our Attention
Staff do take part in the IRC channel, but it can be quite lively from time to time.
Staff generally have names starting AA-.

It helps to say staff tech, staff sales or staff accounts as this will flag up to people in those departments that you need help.

Personal & Confidential Information
It is important to know that the IRC servers are purposefully not run by Andrews & Arnold Ltd, chat and even private messages can be logged (even if you use SSL to the server). Therefore, do not use IRC to send confidential information such as passwords etc as they can be read by other people.

Using the Web based IRC Client
Joining
Pop along to: https://webirc.aa.net.uk

Pick a nickname, and then click Start. You will then be in the main IRC Channel with all the other staff and customers. At this point you may ask for staff or simply ask a question to whole channel.

Private Messages
It is often better to send a private message to a member of staff rather than posting your details to the main channel where everyone can read it. You can send someone a Private message by clicking on their name and selecting message:

This will open a'tab' where you can talk directly with that person. If someone sends you a PM, a tab will appear on your side. You can then switch between the Private Message tab (AA-Shaun) and the main Channel (#A&A)

When you get a new Private Message a number will appear next to that persons name in the tab, e.g.:

If you use the web client a lot, then you may wish to enable 'Desktop Notifications' if your browser supports it. This is a setting found under the 'cog' icon on the top/right.
Roadhog863https://support.aa.net.uk/index.php?title=Home::1&diff=13238Home::12018-03-28T20:41:22Z
Roadhog863: Section re control panel topups is above not below, possibly moved once and this not updated?
