LNS Switches: Difference between revisions

m
We operate multiple LNSs connected to multiple links in to carriers. This is partly for redundancy (if one of the LNSs or links break) and partly for load (to handle over a gigabit, the size of each link).

We currently have 12 LNSs in use, plus one spare and one 'test' LNS. This has grown over time with four in 2012, seven in April 2016, nine in January 2017 and twelve in November 2017.
From early 2012 we had four main LNSs handling all traffic from BT and TT, in April 2016 this was expanded to seven, and in 2017 nine LNSs in total plus the test LNS.

Normally we run with n-1 live LNSs and so this leaves one as a backup in case of failure.
