PROJECT: New Authoritative DNS servers coming in 2024

This page is under development (May 2024)

Overview

This page explains our fairly large project to move away from our 'in-house' authoritative DNS servers to 'Power DNS'

Basics

Our Authoritative DNS servers are primary-dns.co.uk and secondary-dns.co.uk. These are used in the following situations:

  • Running DNS for domain names we host for customers
  • Running as extra secondary DNS servers (slaves) where our customer runs their own, primary, DNS server(s)
  • Reverse DNS
  • Delegating Reverse DNS zones to customer's own DNS servers

Customer Impact

Specific details

Where we are a slave

Situation: Some customers run their own primary DNS servers and our 'secondary-dns.co.uk' is a slave server.
