Lots of our servers and routers have hostnames ending in "less".

The story of how this all started was when we 'signed the purchase order' for the original Clueless server back in 2000. There was a Dilbert comic cartoon on, or near the day where the Dilbert character was arranging a purchase order for a server called 'Clueless. (2000-06-16). And then naming servers with names ending 'less' has never stopped!

Note....

The naming scheme was originated in the year 2000, at which point Dilbert was a barely-known niche cartoon for nerds. Scott Adams was only known for Dilbert, and for nothing else.

A&A currently has many dozens of server names ending in ~less, and only one, "clueless", was ever actually part of a comic strip. The rest were originated by simply looking for words with that suffix.

The naming scheme works well for A&A, and migrating to a new one would be a lot of work, for no benefit, and carrying some risk to operations.

For the avoidance of doubt, A&A does not condone the views of Scott Adams.
